Zoom’s new features prepare you for a return to office – Times of India

Is the end in sight for the work from home culture? Not really as companies all over the world have realised that WFH is here to stay and can be really effective. Yet, what most companies are planning is a ‘hybrid’ model — combining WFH and coming to office. Zoom that burst on the scene capitalising on the whole WFH phenomena is getting ready for the hybrid model as companies ponder over getting employees back to office.
According to a report by Cnet, Zoom is adding features to its Zoom Rooms platform to increase productivity. Some of the new features Zoom is adding are:

View how many people are in conference rooms in offices

IT administrators will be able to see how any people are in a conference room. As per Cnet, this will help ensuring social distancing is being followed and meeting rooms aren’t crowded. All the information outside conference rooms can also be put on a scheduling display using Zoom.

A virtual receptionist

The virtual receptionist features allows users to set up a contactless entry for everyone entering/exiting office buildings.

Ease of connectivity with mobile phones

The report states that a new feature allows Zoom Room users to pair mobile phones with the Zoom Room they are in. This makes it easier to easily join meetings.

Turning mobile phones into remote controls

Users can now download Zoom Rooms Controller app that will turn a mobile phone into a remote control. Using the app, users will have the ability to join a meting and monitor audio, video and participant controls.
Do note that these features are for Zoom Room, which is the company’s smart conference room platform meant for offices. Regular Zoom users will not get these features as of now.
