PUNE: London bronze medallist shooter Gagan Narang has come forward to help Yemen shooter Amal Mudhsh by giving her a Walther rifle and a shooting suit.
TOI had reported that the Yemeni mother of two came to participate in her first World Cup sans her rifle. She shot with a borrowed rifle, arranged by the National Rifle Association of India, through Narang’s academy Gun For Glory.

On Monday, Narang met Amal and offered her a brand new rifle as well as jacket-trouser along with providing training at his academy.
Due to war-like situation in Yemen, Amal can’t buy shooting equipment. She said the support will motivate her a lot.
“I am so happy that my feeling cannot described in words. I am overwhelmed. God willing, the day will come when I can thank Gagan and Pawan from the podium, when I get a medal in the future,” Amal told TOI after meeting the ace shooter and Gun For Glory director Pawan Singh.

Narang said he was moved by the dedication of Amal. “When NRAI asked us to lend a rifle to Amal for a match, we didn’t even ask them about anything and gave her a rifle to play. But later we got to know about her situation and saw her dedication at the range. We spoke to people at Walther about her and they were ready to give a rifle for Amal. We also spoke to Capapie for her jacket and trousers and they were also happy came on board,” Narang told TOI.
“We have also offered Amal to train at our academy, if she can manage to come down to India,” he added.
Pawan said Amal’s determination is inspiring. “When we heard her story, we got so moved. If someone is taking efforts to continue the sport despite so many hurdles, it goes on to show the dedication of the person. We decided to support her, as it won’t be Amal alone, her story will inspire a lot many youngsters in her country,” Pawan said.
