Xiaomi may launch Redmi K40 and K40 Pro as Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro – Times of India

Xiaomi launched the Redmi K40 series phones in China last month. The series comprises three phones — Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+. A report by XDA developers suggest that two of Redmi K40 series mobiles — Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro — may be launched in India as Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro.
The report quotes Xiaomi tipster kacskrz who has shared images highlighting the code of an unreleased Xiaomi device. It is codenamed “aliothin” and bears the model number M2012K11AI. This Xiaomi device is alleged to be launched with the marketing name Mi 11X.
Justifying how it reached the conclusion that the listed device is Redmi K40, the report says that Redmi K40 was codenamed “alioth”. The suffix ‘in’ added to the word suggests that it may be launched in India. Because Xiaomi has a history of adding the suffix “in” to the codenames of devices that are launched in the Indian market.
The tipster has shared another image which has a screenshot code with a device named Mi 11X Pro. It is expected to be the rebranded model of Redmi K40 Pro for the Indian market.
The third screenshot shows codes on another smartphone named Mi 11i. It is codenamed ‘haydn_pro_global’ and is likely to be a global variant of Redmi K40 Pro+.
The XDA report comes days after online reports suggested that Redmi K40 series may be launched in the global markets under the Poco branding. If the XDA Developers report is to be believed, this is not the same for Indian market.
