Xiaomi, Google and Oppo may use OLED panels from Samsung for their foldable phones – Times of India
As reported by The Elec, Samsung Display is working on developing foldable OLED panels for Google, Xiaomi and Oppo. The report also adds that smartphones with these panels will launch this year.
Smartphone maker Oppo is said to launch a foldable smartphone with a clamshell design just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The smartphone is said to come with a 7.7-inch main display and a 2-inch external screen.
To recall, Oppo showcased an out folding 7.7-inch foldable smartphone last year. The company used foldable panels from Samsung Display, BOE and Visionox.
On the other hand, Xiaomi is also planning to enter the foldable smartphone segment this year. The company is considering making an in-folding smartphone. The foldable smartphone from Xiaomi is said to come with an 8-inch main display and a 6.38-inch external display which is said to be developed by Samsung Display.
The report also suggests that tech giant Google has also asked Samsung to develop a foldable OLED panel with 7.6-inch in size. The company has not yet decided on the design of its foldable smartphone.
Presently, Samsung is the only smartphone maker that offers a maximum number of foldable smartphones. The company is also expected to launch three new foldable devices this year. It is also said that this year Samsung is planning to launch an affordable foldable smartphone.
