With ‘Deal of 25 Seats’, Congress Hops onto DMK Wagon; Final Poll Pact to be Announced Today


The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Congress late on Saturday sealed the poll pact after an hour-long meeting at DMK chief MK Stalin’s residence, sources said. According to the deal, the grand old party will contest Tamil Nadu elections on 25 seat. Apart from this, DMK has offered the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha bypoll seat and a Rajya Sabha seat to the Congress.

The agreement was arrived after multiple rounds of discussions including top-level negotiations with Stalin. After multiple rounds of negotiations, Congress Tamil Nadu incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao and state president KS Alagiri met the DMK president at the latter’s residence to finalise the agreement. The poll agreement will be signed at the DMK headquarters at 10 am on Sunday (March 7).

Rao after meeting Stalin said, “After our High command met with DMK president and other leaders, we have come to an understanding and agreement. Tomorrow at 10 am, we will be signing the agreement and announce the final terms of the agreement.” DMK has allotted six seats each to VCK, MDMK and CPI, three to IUML and two to MMK.
