This was claimed by WABetaInfo, the website that tracks the upcoming changes and features of WhatsApp.
As per a recent report, with the iOS 2.21.50 beta version of the app no longer supports the iPhones running on iOS 9. This means iPhones running on iOS 10 or above will be the ones that will be able to operate WhatsApp.
Currently, WhatsApp has not updated its FAQ page that shows its supported operating system. Therefore, at the time of filing this report, iPhones running on iOS 9 or above are listed to be supported.

Another feature that this beta version of WhatsApp has reportedly shown is that the app is working on a new user interface for the Archived Chats cell.
This new interface will appear only if a user has any chats in their archive section. “If you have a chat in the archive, the cell will be always pinned to the top,” adds the report.

As shown in the tweet, if a user has any new message from their archived chat, they will see a counter in the cell, just as they see when they are mentioned in a group.
Both these aforementioned developments are expected to be rolled out soon.
