WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Facebook, has started testing a new feature that will allow users to send each other self-destructing photos, as per WABetaInfo.
WABetaInfo is the website that tracks the upcoming changes and features on WhatsApp.
In a recent tweet, WABetaInfo has claimed that WhatsApp is testing the ability to share self-destructing photos for both Android and iOS users.
While not many details are revealed yet, WABetaInfo did mention that the photos shared in the self-destructing mode won’t be able to be exported from the app. This could mean that users won’t find them in their phone’s gallery or won’t be able to forward them to others.
The second thing that is mentioned is that WhatsApp, right now, has not implemented a screenshot detection for self-destructing photos. Apparently the company “doesn’t really like the idea” of screenshot detection.

WhatsApp already offers a similar feature — called disappearing messages — that was launched last year. The feature automatically deletes any given message after seven days of sending it.
However, one can forward or take a screenshot of the disappearing message and save it before it disappears.
