whatsapp call: WhatsApp brings voice and video call to the desktop app – Times of India

WhatsApp users can now make voice and video calls using the desktop app. The Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp announced this in a tweet.
As per the post shared by WhatsApp on Twitter, calls made using its desktop app will offer end-to-end encryption. “Secure and reliable, end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls are now available on our desktop app,” reads the tweet.
The voice and video calling feature till now was available only for the mobile app of WhatsApp. The latest announcement will come in handy to those using the WhatsApp desktop app.

It is still not available for the WhatsApp Web, the app’s browser version. This means that a user will be able to make voice and video calls only if they have downloaded and installed the WhatsApp desktop app on their desktop/laptop.
Initially, the WhatsApp desktop app will support one-to-one calls only. Group voice and video calls will be made available to the users in the coming days. Also, video calls on the desktop app will work in both portrait and landscape orientation.
Recently, the company rolled out the mute video feature for its Android app users. The feature enables users to mute a video before sharing it on WhatsApp Status or sending it to other users. It is available on the video editing screen when one shares a video with another contact.
