Watch: Woman finds her iPhone 11 Pro in working condition 30 days after it fell in icy lake – Times of India
According to a report by CTV, a woman named Angie Carriere has managed to retrieve her iPhone 11 Pro a month after it was dropped in icy lake water.
The woman was visiting Waskesiu Lake to celebrate her 50th birthday and at one point she had her phone resting on her knee when she tried to grab the tent, the iPhone slid off her knee and fell straight into the lake.
Initially, Carriere had no desire to rescue the phone from the freezing lake. But later took it up as a challenge.
On her third trip, she was able to locate it using a fish finder and a magnet after looking for it for two hours.
After finding it, she plugged it in with not expecting it to be completely functional, which it turned out to be.
“The screensaver came on, which was shocking at first and then when I did the brush-up… everything was still on the phone,” said Carriere.
“I was looking for my photos from my 50th party. There’s nothing about the phone that doesn’t work,” Carriere said, adding, “It’s amazing.”
Having survived 30 days in icy water can be termed as a rare case as Apple on its part makes no such claims.
As per the company, the iPhone 11 Pro offers an IP68 rating, which means that it is claimed to survive a maximum depth of 4 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
