Watch: Bizarre Cheteshwar Pujara dismissal on Day 3 of Chennai Test sets Twitter abuzz | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: As the deteriorating Chepauk track continued to ask questions on Day 3, India top order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was the victim of a bizarre dismissal.
While attempting to get back into his crease, Pujara stuck out his bat, but it jammed in the pitch, just before the crease line and England wicket keeper Ben Foakes whipped off the bails to run Pujara out. Pujara in fact tried to get back into his crease after the bat jammed, trying to use his right leg and left hand, but by then the bails were off.
The incident happened in the first over of the morning session when Pujara stepped out against Moeen Ali off the final ball of that over, only to flick the ball straight to Ollie Pope at short-leg.
What should have been an easy return to the crease ended in a run out.
Watch the dismissal here:

The weird dismissal set Twitter abuzz as experts and fans alike felt bad for Pujara after his unlucky end at the crease.

This wasn’t a case of a batsman being done in by prodigious turn off the Chepauk pitch, but ironically the pitch did prove to be Pujara’s undoing in this case, as the bat didn’t slide over the crease line.
