Twitter Faceoff: Fans and critics of PM Modi clash after he takes first dose of Covid-19 vaccine | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI. Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi was administered first dose of coronavirus vaccine on Monday at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi. He was reportedly given Covaxin, India’s homegrown coronavirus vaccine developed by biotechnology firm Bharat Biotech and Indian Council of Medical Research.

PM informed his followers by posting about it on his social media profiles.
“Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against Covid-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India Covid-19 free!,” the PM tweeted.

Many Indian Twitter users, including fans of PM Modi, praised him for leading the country by an example.

But the Modi critics were perturbed by the coverage he received.

Some even fueled conspiracy theories

Many saw politics in it

And some of the Congress fans thanked India’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru for building AIIMS where Modi got vaccinated.

“It was all gimmicks,” said a youth Congress leader.

How could Twitter not have memes and jokes for a situation as huge as PM getting his first Covaxin jab.
