Trinamool demands deputy EC’s removal | India News – Times of India

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress on Thursday demanded deputy election commissioner Sudeep Jain’s removal, questioning his neutrality and expressing its lack of confidence in him because of his “tilt” towards a political party. TMC cited two incidents during the 2019 Lok Sabha poll to support its contention.
One related to the Vidyasagar College vandalism in which an Iswarchandra Vidyasagar bust was damaged; it prompted Election Commission to halt poll campaigning for two days. The second concerned the formation of a Quick Response Team where a central force officer led state police personnel.
