India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu takes on Rio Olympics gold medallist Carolin Marin of Spain in the women’s singles final of Swiss Open Super 300 tournament in Basel, Switzerland. The reigning world champion from India has entered her first final since the World championships in 2019. Marin and Sindhu are the top two seeds in the women’s singles category and this will be their first encounter in over two years. Sindhu defeated fourth seeded Mia Blichfeldt 22-20, 21-10 in just 43 minutes in the semi-finals on Saturday. Marin, on the other hand, had to grind hard to win her semi-final match against Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong. The reigning Olympic champion kept her cool in tense moments and won the match 21-15, 20-22, 21-19 to set up a mouth-watering final against the current world champion.
