Six killed as Bihar school wall collapses | India News – Times of India


PATNA: At least six workers died when a portion of a wall at a government high school collapsed during the construction of a drain in Khagaria district of Bihar on Monday. Ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh was given to the next of kin of each deceased, chief minister Nitish Kumar said.
The accident took place around 4pm when the workers were removing the soil of the drain and the school wall — built around eight months ago — caved in. Official sources said the drain was being constructed under Bihar government’s Nal-Jal scheme. Khagaria SP Amitesh Kumar said no one was injured and the school was closed when the wall collapsed. The bodies were sent for autopsy and an FIR registered with Maheshkunt police station.
