Roohi Box office collection day 4 Early estimate: Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s horror-comedy earns Rs 3.25 crore on Sunday – Times of India


Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma‘s horror-comedy ‘Roohi‘ opened to mixed responses from the audience and critics. The film hit the big screen on March 11. The film witnessed an uprise over the weekend. According to the latest report by boxofficeindia.com, the film did a business of 3.25 crore nett approx on Sunday.

The report further suggested that this is one of the best collections post COVID-19. It is performing well at the box office for three days, this is somewhat similar to what we used to normally see before the pandemic. The report revealed that the Sunday collections came from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh as well as places like Rajasthan and Bihar. These places have contributed 20% to the all India collections at the moment.

The report also stated that the film could also see a higher than normal in the coming week since there has been the case since October.

Speaking about the film, it is the first major Bollywood release post the COVID-19 lockdown. Helmed by Hardik Mehta, it also marks the first-ever collaboration of Rajkummar and Janhvi. Varun and Rajkummar have worked together in the 2015 release ‘Dolly Ki Doli’. The movie is based on the lines of the 2018 hit film ‘Stree‘, which featured Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar in the lead roles.

‘Roohi’ also became one of the first major films to release theatrically after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting let cinema halls across the country operate at full capacity from February following all the COVID-19 safety protocols.

In an interaction with Etimes, Janhvi talked about her second theatrical release after her debut film. She stated, “Of course, I understand the circumstances and I am hoping that people go to the theatres to watch our film because it is really meant to be a big-screen experience. It is meant for a community viewing experience. I really do believe that it’s a fun film and we have all worked very hard and done what we can. I really am hopeful, but, at the same time, I am trying to stay realistic about it. I know I have done my job to the best of my ability. I am looking forward to seeing what the audience thinks about it and I am hoping for the best.”
