Ration Cardholders to Get Rs 1,000 a Month if DMK Comes to Power: MK Stalin Raises Poll Pitch in Tamil Nadu


DMK chief MK Stalin on Sunday said that every ration cardholder will get Rs 1,000 per month if DMK comes into power in Tamil Nadu. The DMK leader was speaking at a rally in Trichy in poll bound Tamil Nadu, where he announced the party’s seven-point vision plan.

Stalin while pitching for Tamil Nadu Assembly polls from next months said his party will also increase budget allocation to education and healthcare three times, double scholarships for SC/ST/OBC students, put an end manual scavenging.

The vision document of the opposition party also included drinking water for all and promised that no individual will go without food. It added that the party led government will focus on the growth of agriculture if it comes into power. These promises, he said, will be implemented in phase-wise manner over the next ten years.

Earlier on Saturday, DMK and the Congress sealed the poll pact after an hour-long meeting at Stalin’s residence, sources said. According to the deal, the grand old party will contest Tamil Nadu elections in 25 seats. Apart from this, DMK has offered the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha bypoll seat and a Rajya Sabha seat to Congress.

Stalin’s 10 year vision document:

Economy:

  • Achieve 2-digit growth and generate 10 lakh jobs every year
  • Lift 1 crore people from poverty
  • Increase per captia income by 4 lakh every year

Agriculture:

  • Bring Tamil Nadu among the top 3 states which produce food grains, coconut, sugarcane, cotton, sunflower and other such cash crops.
  • Increase cropping area from 60 per cent to 75 per cent
  • Double crop cultivation from 10 lakh acres to 20 lakh acres

Water:

  • Increase annual per person consumption of water from 9 lakh litres to 10 lakh litres
  • Reduce daily water wastage, increase usable recycled water
  • Increase greenery from 20.37% to 25% by linking 7.5 hectares land

Education and Health:

  • Triple state expenditure on education and healthcare
  • Bring Tamil Nadu within the top 10 spots on the Learning Outcomes scores
  • Decrease student dropout rate
  • Develop exemplary schools and hospitals in every Panchayat Union
  • Double the number of doctors, nurses, assistant doctors, and other polytechnic graduates.

Rural Development:

  • Build 20 lakh concrete houses
  • Provide drinking water pipes for households in villages
  • Build roads and drainage systems
  • Provide broadband facilities in all villages
  • Ensure a waste management system

Urban Development:

  • Provide water connections to more households
  • Implement waste management systems
  • Construct 9.75 lakh new concrete homes

Social:

  • Ensure Rs 1000 per month income to every female head of household
  • Double scholarship amounts for SC/ST/OBC students
  • Abolishing manual scavenging completely
