Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘D Company’ release caught in controversy over unpaid dues of Rs 12 crore, FWICE urges to stop the film’s release – Times of India

Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged that Ram Gopal Varma‘s upcoming film ‘D Company‘ must not be released as the filmmaker has massive dues pending. The filmmaker has reportedly not paid Rs 12 crore to South Industry, which is up in arms against him. In a letter to UFO Moviez, FWICE requested that the release of ‘D Company’ must be put on hold till the dues have been cleared.

According to a source, Ram Gopal Varma has to pay Rs 12 crores in payments to exhibitors, distributors, paper publicity people, poster printing, posters pasting, fighters union, production union and the drivers union for the movie ‘Officer’. It has been revealed that whenever they ask for the payments he would postpone the dates and his cheques also bounced. So now all the unions have decided to stop the release of his films.

Interestingly, the release of ‘D Company’ has been delayed but Ram Gopal Varma stated that it was because of the rise in Covid-19 cases. “Due to the sudden severe covid rise in many parts of the country and also amid continuous news of new lockdowns, we at SPARK decided to postpone the release of D COMPANY ..A new date will be announced ASAP #DCompany,” he had shared on Twitter.
