Paytm launches Soundbox 2.0 and Paytm Smart POS for Android phones – Times of India
Paytm has launched its latest Internet of Things (IoT) based payment devices, Soundbox 2.0 and Paytm Smart POS for Android phones.
Soundbox 2.0 is a ‘Made in India’ advanced IoT device that is powered by Paytm’s all-in-one payments and reconciliation technology. The new device comes with a digital screen that gives instant visual confirmation of the paid amount along with the voice-based response.
It also comes with a function button to fetch a payment summary for the entire day. The device can record the net amount corresponding to the merchant’s collection along with voice-based confirmation. For example, the device during the closing hour would play the following message, “Today’s summary for Paytm QR code: Received 10 payments of Rs 100, done 3 refunds of Rs 20, Net amount to be settled is equal to Rs 80.”
Paytm Soundbox 2.0 can also notify if the battery is running out of power. The device has a 2000mAh battery, has a SIM card slot and can be operated without a wifi connection.
It currently comes with support for five languages — English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu & Kannada. Paytm plans to add more languages including Marathi in the next few months.
Paytm Smart POS can transform a smartphone into a device that accepts debit & credit card payments just like a normal EDC machine. It is currently supported by the Paytm for Business app.
Paytm has partnered with leading financial services institutions including Visa and MasterCard for facilitating card payments for Smart POS. The facility will soon be live with a Rupay card as well.
To start using the facility, merchants can sign up on the Paytm for Business app and download the ‘Paytm Smart POS’ on their Android-based phones.
