No Chautha for late Rajiv Kapoor for ‘safety reasons’ amidst pandemic says Neetu Kapoor in a social media post – Times of India


There will be no Chautha organised for late actor-director Rajiv Kapoor, sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor announced on Wednesday.

Taking to her social media handle, she shared a notice that read, “Due to the current pandemic circumstances, there will be no Chautha held for the Late Mr Rajiv Kapoor for safety reasons.”

The post went on to read, “The entire Raj Kapoor family is a part of your grief too.”

Rajiv, son of celebrated filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor, passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack. He was 58.

Brother Randhir Kapoor said Rajiv Kapoor died due to heart attack, and although he was rushed to a hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“He passed away about 1.30 pm due to heart attack,” Randhir said in a statement.

Family, friends, prominent Bollywood personalities and fans bid adieu to actor-director, as he was cremated on Tuesday evening in Chembur, at around 7 pm.

Randhir Kapoor and nephew, actor Ranbir Kapoor led the funeral procession.

Family and close friends from the film industry were also seen at Rajiv Kapoor’s Chembur bungalow to pay their last respects.

Actor Neetu Kapoor arrived with son Ranbir Kapoor at the late actor’s residence. Ranbir was later joined by his actor-girlfriend Alia Bhatt. Aadar Jain, son of Rima Jain, along with his rumoured girlfriend, actor Tara Sutaria were spotted as well.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, actors Sanjay Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, Sonali Bendre, and Neil Nitin Mukesh were also in attendance at Rajiv’s residence.

Several industry personalities, including Lata Mangeshkar, Manoj Kumar, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, and many others took to social media to offer their heartfelt condolences to the Kapoor family.

The news of Rajiv’s demise comes just under a year after the sudden passing of the Kapoor family members including Ritu Nanda and Rishi Kapoor in January 2020 and April 2020, respectively.
