Referring to a recent mishap where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost her balance while riding a scooty during a protest against diesel and petrol price hike in Kolkata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that while he doesn’t want anyone hurt but what can he do if Didi’s scooty is destined to fall in Nandigram. Taking a jibe at Banerjee, he said, “A few days ago, we all prayed for her safety when she rode a scooty. Thankfully she didn’t fall.”

‘Won’t Jump Queues to be CM, Will Follow Protocol’: Mithun Chakraborty on Taking on Mamata

Hours after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, actor Mithun Chakraborty said he won’t jump any queues for the role of the chief minister.  “If it (CM’s post) comes to me via protocol then I will consider it… but I will not jump the protocol,” he told CNN-News18 in Kolkata after sharing the stage with PM Modi. Mithun’s entry into the BJP ended days of speculation over his political innings.

The DMK on Sunday assured it would provide financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to all women family heads in Tamil Nadu if the party was voted to power in the April 6 assembly elections. This would benefit all families that get essential commodities from the Public Distribution Outlets, he told a grand election rally here, releasing a 10-year vision document for the development of the state where the DMK is eyeing to storm back to power after being in opposition for ten years.

Maharashtra’s Daily Covid-19 Tally Touches Another High, Breaches 11,000 Mark

After reporting more than 10,000 fresh coronavirus positive cases on two days in a row, Maharashtra on Sunday added 11,141 new infections, taking the tally to 22,19,727 while 38 deaths pushed the toll to 52,478, the state Health department said. On Friday and Saturday, the state reported 10,216 and 10,187 cases, respectively. Owing to rising cases, authorities have announced partial lockdown in Aurangabad from March 11 and full lockdown on weekends.

Shah Rukh Khan Visits His Parents’ Grave Upon Landing in Delhi

Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan recently flew to his hometown in Delhi. Upon reaching the city, the actor went to his parents, Mir Taj Mohammed Khan and Lateef Fatima Khan’s grave in a cemetery to pay respect to them. Pictures of his visit have surfaced on social media.
