‘Mumbai Saga’ opening box office report: John-Emraan’s gangster drama collections may be affected due to restrictions – Times of India

Bollywood is back in business and ‘Mumbai Saga’ is one of its biggest releases in theatres since lockdown norms were eased. The film hit the screens today and opened in 2000 cinemas across the country. According to Boxofficeindia.com, such gangster and crime films have found maximum takers in Mumbai circuit and other circuits which have centres of Maharashtra like Nizam and CP Berar. But Maharashtra circuit may not necessarily translate in good collections for the movie because of the pandemic. Mumbai may still see some traction in theatres but the collections may take a hit in Nizam / Andhra and CP Berar circuits.

Before ‘Mumbai Saga’, Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Roohi’ had released on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. According to the report, opening expectations of ‘Mumbai Saga’ can be what ‘Roohi’ earned on Maha Shivratri, but if there were no restrictions in Maharashtra then this gangster drama could have beaten ‘Roohi’. ‘Mumbai Saga’ managed to open up theatres and is warmly welcoming the audience, it remains to be seen how well it fares at the box office.

‘Mumbai Saga’ is set in the 0s and 90s and will focus on a clash between John Abraham’s gangster character and Emraan Hashmi as the cop.
