Kristen Stewart transforms into Lady Diana in new ‘Spencer’ still; Jack Farthing joins cast as Prince Charles – Times of India
Donning Lady Di’s iconic side-parted hairdo, the picture features Stewart with a small smile and the timeless Sapphire engagement right taking centre frame.
Following the release of the second still from the film, the makers announced that Brit actor Jack Farthing would join the cast as Prince Charles. Together, the pair will portray the royal family’s trip to Queen Elizabeth II‘s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, where they all celebrated Christmas in 1991.
Pablo Larrain’s ‘Spencer’ takes place over three days of Diana’s last Christmas holidays as a member of the House of Windsor. It was reportedly during this time that the Princess realized it was time to officially end her marriage to the future King of England.
The film scripted by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Locked Down) was first announced during the 2020 virtual Cannes Market. It will also feature an ensemble cast including Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins and Sean Harris.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart said of the film, “Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life.”
“It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name: Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her,” she added.
According to reports, the film won’t deal with Diana’s death after she left the palace life, but will examine the fading bond with her husband, and her love for her sons.
