Intel makes ‘fun’ of Apple’s M1 MacBooks – Times of India

Last year Apple ‘broke’ away from Intel by launching its own silicon-based processor called M1. The M1-powered machines — MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini — have received critical acclaim and resulted in pressure on Intel. Intel has now released a bunch of images as a part of social media campaign taking digs at Apple and M1 MacBook.
Taking a dig at the MacBook not being a two-in-one device, the ad reads, “Only a PC offers tablet mode, touch screen and stylus capabilities in a single device.” This is exactly what the Microsoft Surface or a few other hybrid devices do.
Hinting that the MacBook isn’t ideal for engineers or gamers, another ad reads, “If you can power a rocket launch and launch Rocket League, you’re not on a Mac.” Incidentally, Apple had discontinued the popular Rocket League game from macOS last year.

Another ad also makes fun of Mac not giving a touchscreen. “If you can flip through Photoshop thumbnails with your actual thumb, you’re not on a Mac.”
The idea is to show that MacBooks — despite the M1 powered chip — isn’t a do it all machine. Go PC is how Intel is promoting the capabilities of its processors and on Windows machine.
Interestingly, Apple hasn’t completely snapped ties with Intel. At the time of the launch of M1 MacBooks, Apple made clear that Intel-powered Mac devices will continue to be a part of its lineup. However, it will only be a matter of time when the entire Mac lineup is powered by M1 chips.
It was also recently reported that Intel had chosen selective benchmark tests to highlight the power of its processors. On almost every benchmark score, Apple M1 has outscored Intel processors.
