UDUPI: Subramanya Hebbagelu from Taggarse, in Baindoor taluk has been unanimously elected vice-president of Indian Cultural Centre, Qatar for 2021-22. The centre working under the aegis of the Indian embassy has been working for the betterment of Indians settled in the Gulf state.
Subramanya is also the vice-president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar, and joint secretary of ICBF and many other socially oriented organisations.
Subramanya played a pivotal role in ensuring that Indians stranded in the Gulf at the height of the pandemic, made it back to India in the Vande Bharat flights.
The elections for the post of vice president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar were held using the mobile application DIGIPOLL developed by the Indian embassy. The results were announced in 30 minutes after the polls were closed. PN Baburajan was elected president along with executive committee members, a press note from the centre, said.
