Here’s why some apps are crashing randomly on Android smartphones – Times of India

If you use an Android phone and are witnessing some unwarranted app crashes then you are not alone. The issue has been acknowledged by Google and the internet search giant is already working on a fix.
The issue that is causing this problem is a system component called Android System WebView, which is supposed to enable Android apps to display web content.
According to a report by The Verge, Google said, ”We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps on Android to crash for some users. We are currently working to fully validate the scope and a fix is in progress.”
The issue seems to be global and even Google-owned apps like Gmail and Google Pay are also reportedly affected.
Samsung has posted a temporary fix on Twitter for its users, but other smartphone users are also welcome to try it.

Last month, Google had also said that it is working on a fix for an issue that reportedly has been broken for months.
Saying “Hey Google” to activate the Google Assistant has not been responsive on Wear OS — the Android-based operating system for wearables — smartwatches. Last month, the company had said that it will be fixed soon with an OS rollout that will not only fix the issue but also “improve the overall experience.”
