Here’s why iPhone users need to install iOS 14.4.1 update immediately – Times of India

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has released a new software update for iPhone and iPad users. The company has pushed iOS 14.4.1 and iPadOS 14.4.1 for all supported devices.
This update is more essential than the regular software updates as it comes with “important security updates” even though Apple didn’t reveal what it is regarding.
The release notes for the update simply read,“ This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.”
Apple revealed that iOS 14.4.1 patches a vulnerability in WebKit, which is the browser engine that powers Safari and third-party browsers on iOS. As per the little description given by Apple, this bug could allow maliciously crafted web content to execute code.
A similar issue was brought to light with the roll out of iOS 14.4 and iPadOS 14.4.
Under kernel updates, Apple had stated that “a malicious application may be able to elevate privileges,” and under WebKit updates, it says “a remote attacker may be able to cause arbitrary code execution.” After both statements, the update notes say, “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.”
How to download iOS 14.4.1 and iPadOS 14.4.1
The iOS and iPadOS 14.4.1 updates can be downloaded on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app.
To access the new software update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
