Google Pay: Why the new change in Google Pay’s settings may make you happy – Times of India
The new features have been announced by Google via a blog post titled “Your Privacy at the heart of Google Pay”. “Turning on ‘Personalisation within Google Pay’ will provide a more tailored experience within Google Pay,” the blog post said.
For instance, a user who enables this feature will get relevant offers and rewards on the basis of their activity within Google Pay. The activities will include one’s transaction history as well.
This also means that if a user turns on the new personalisation feature, it will provide access to information like forms of payment, transaction history and more to Google.
The new feature will be rolled out to both Android and iOS app users of Google Pay. It will be available to them as soon as they upgrade to the app’s latest version.
Personalisation within Google Pay feature is not mandatory, but only optional. “All users will be asked to choose whether they would like to turn the control on or off as soon as they upgrade to the next version of the Google Pay app”, Google said in the post.
“Even with this setting turned off, Google Pay will continue to work just as well – only without personalisation,” it further added.
In the post, Google affirmed that it does not share Google Pay user’s personal data with any other Google product. “Your personal information is never sold to anyone and your transaction history is not shared with any other Google product for targeting ads,” it said in the post.
