google maps railway crossing feature: Google Maps may soon show you railway crossings while navigating – Times of India

After Search, if there’s one service from Google that’s changed the game for good then it has to be Maps. Google Maps has made commuting easier for a lot of people all over the world. From time to time, Google keeps adding new features as well. According to a report by 9to5Google, another new feature may soon come to Google Maps.
The report suggests that Google Maps may show you railway crossings while navigating. If you are approaching a railway crossing on the route, a banner may pop up which reads “Expect Delays”.
A user on Reddit shared the notification where railway crossing was on the route. However, the report says that it’s “unclear if these alerts are triggered by users reporting the crossing as being active, or if it’s just triggered by crossings that often cause delays.”
Google hasn’t spoken about the feature and so far it has been spotted in the US only. So it’s not clear when — and in what regions — will this feature will actually arrive. Google Maps features in most cases are universally the same only, so if it does roll out then it’s possible that users in India too will get the feature.
The feature, in fact, is already available on Google-owned Waze. Waze built this feature in collaboration with major railway operators and volunteer Waze map editors around the world. As a result, the feature is available in the US, Canada, Mexico, France, UK, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Colombia, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Netherlands, and Ireland.
