Actor Sandeep Nahar, who was seen in the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, followed by the Akshay Kumar – led ‘Kesari’ and then in the Sonakshi Sinha movie ‘Khandaani Shafakhana’ died allegedly by suicide, last evening (Monday, February 15). The actor before his suicide had posted a long post along with a video on his Facebook page, in which he is talking about ending his life.

ETimes spoke to Shilpi Dasgupta who directed the 2019 film ‘Khandaani Shafakhana’. Shilpi was, to say the least, aghast. She said that she hadn’t learned the sad news about Sandeep’s demise before we called her. The director said that she was baffled that Sandeep had taken such a drastic step. “I am really taken aback,” she said.

Was she in touch with Sandeep, we asked? “Sandeep was very active on Facebook. Whenever there was a good role or function, he would always message. Whenever there was an opportunity to greet, he would do that.”

And how had she cast him in her directorial debut, we asked? “Well, that was a process. Actors generally come through a casting director and auditions,” she replied.

“Sandeep was a fantastic gentleman, always very eager to help. He was also a very talented and devoted actor,” Shilpi added.
