Exclusive interview! Shibani Kashyap on remixes: I would like to recreate ‘Yeh Raat Bheegi Bheegi’ – Times of India
How was the year 2020 for you?
It was strange but I made the most of it as I spent a lot of time with my loved ones. I focussed on my health, which helped my creativity. I did lots of virtual concerts for frontline warriors, which gave me time to value the real people in my life.
What precautions do you take while performing live concerts now?
I shot my song ‘Jogiya’ in January 2021. For all the live concerts, I ensure I wear a mask. Moreover, I prefer to work with units that are Covid negative; I make sure that the unit is tested prior to the concert and shoot. I have also started to use my own microphones.
Which is your favourite genre of music?
I love to sing a lot of jazz. In fact, I have incorporated jazz in some of my compositions. I love rock, country music, R & B, and Sufi music; I listen to them according to my mood. More or less, it’s a mixture of Sufi and jazz.
Most of your songs are romantic. Are you romantic in real life too?
Oh yes, I’m very romantic at heart, and simply love romantic songs, especially old songs from the ’50s and ’60s. In fact, I have recreated some of the old songs. And now, I would like to recreate ‘Yeh Raat Bheegi Bheegi’ too.
What is your take on recreations and remixes?
I have recreated a song with Mika Singh, and the original song’s essence was intact. I will soon be recreating my own song.
