Exclusive interview! Ishita Dutta: Vatsal Sheth and I had never spoken about marriage while dating – Times of India

Ishita Dutta and Vatsal Sheth, who met on the sets of a film and fell for each other instantly, can easily inspire the script of a Bollywood romcom with their love story. Having tied the knot in 2017, the couple has been going strong for four years now. On Valentine’s Day, ETimes exclusively got in touch with the ‘Drishyam’ actress to know the secret behind their happy married life.
Excerpts:

How did you meet Vatsal?

The first time I met Vatsal was during the look test on the sets of our show ‘Baazigar’ but we didn’t really speak to each other at all that day. Then once I was finalised for the role, we went on our first outdoor schedule in Lucknow, where we became friends. The show soon got over but we kept meeting outside work too and that’s when we realised that we like each other. We dated for like a couple of months and one day, out of the blue, he asked me if I would want to marry him. So, you see it’s a very simple and sweet love story with no complication or drama (smiles).

How did your parents react to the relationship?

I think my parents were very thrilled. I’ve heard stories about how his family was so excited that they wanted to meet me ASAP.

When did you decide to get married?

We had never spoken about marriage while dating, at least not until he popped the question and said that he wants to get settled. I wanted to be with him too, so getting married now or a year later, was the same. So, we decided to get married.

Who’s the more romantic one?

Both of us are not romantic but if I have to decide between the both of us, then it’s definitely him. He remembers even the smallest of things and knows exactly what I like.

Who’s the most understanding one of the two of you?

Again it’s him. He’s more mature and understanding. we don’t really have fights but if we have an argument, he’s the one who apologises first even if it’s not his fault.

Has life changed post marriage?

Normally, too, life is constantly changing. Apart from my surname, I don’t think anything has changed. We are individually pretty much the same. The only difference is that now I have two families and more responsibility. But again nothing new; it has been very easy and comfortable. Vatsal is very supportive of everything and we don’t want our lives to change. Having said that, certain adjustments and changes are bound to happen.

Go on…

I’m just taking on all the good things from Vatsal but I won’t term it as change.
