Gulshan Grover, who was a part of John Abraham’s debut Bollywood film, ‘Jism’, reunited with the actor for Sanjay Gupta’s, ‘Mumbai Saga’. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the Bad Man of Bollywood opened up about working with John, the response he has been garnering for the trailer of ‘Mumbai Saga’, and more. Excerpts…

‘Mumbai Saga’ is all set to hit the theatres this week…
People are excited, and for multiple reasons. One of the reasons is that the film is releasing in theatres after almost a year. The second reason is that the film is bringing together stars like John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi together, both of whom have a crazy fan following. There are also multiple other stars like Mahesh Manjrekar, Suniel Shetty, Rohit Roy, Kajal Aggarwal, me, and others. The response that I have been getting so far has been tremendous. Sanjay Gupta’s brand has helped us achieve this.

How was it shooting for the film?
It was hard work and fun. The process of filming with Sanjay Gupta is very easy; it is not tense or dramatic. It is very smooth and easy because he is a master technician. He has it all ready. I also enjoyed the process because most of them are my friends. I share a special bond with John, whose debut film ‘Jism’ I was a part of. I have worked with many people in their first films, like Katrina Kaif, Rani Mukerji, Sonali Bendre and they are all very affectionate towards me but John is the only person whose affection and respect towards me hasn’t changed till date.

What attracted you to the film?
What attracted me to the film is Sanjay Gupta. My experience of working with him in the past has been tremendous. In ‘Angaaray’ my role was small but the impact it had was huge. I also worked with him in ‘Acid Factory’ and others. So my attraction was mainly Sanjay Gupta. I got to work with many of my friends here. The gangster genre of the film added to it.

‘Mumbai Saga’ features John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. Gulshan Grover, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rohit Roy, Kajal Aggarwal are also a part of the gangster drama. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, it is slated to hit the theatres on March 19, 2021.
