Elon Musk says ‘AC/DC’ better than AC vs DC – Times of India

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk remains quite active on Twitter and it seems he finds it tough to stay away from the platform, as was seen recently when he came back on Twitter after a break of just 46 hours. And yes, the world too notices and gives due importance to his tweets. As his tweets on Bitcoin and WhatsApp proved earlier this year.
In one of his recent tweets, the billionaire entrepreneur said that it was “too bad” that the ‘AC/DC’ duo of Nikola Tesla and Thomas Alva Edison “broke up”.

Musk is referring to the rivalry between the two great inventors, Nikola Tesla and Edison but has used the logo of the quite popular Australian rock band AC/DC, to imply that had the two inventors come together, the world could have seen some more technological breakthroughs.
For those not clued in, the letters in the rock band’s name stand for “Alternating Current/Direct Current” only.
Thomas Edison developed the Direct Current which stayed the standard in the United States for some years before Nikola Tesla came up with his idea and subsequent invention of the Alternating Current, which was believed to be a better alternative to Direct Current when the need for switching to lower or higher voltages arose. Also, AC could also travel more distance and began to be used in delivering power from generating plants to households. When Nikola Tesla came to America, he found employment with none other than Thomas Edison. But since the scientific approaches of the duo were different, Tesla quit and set out to create his own path. He worked for about a year under Edison.
