There was something special about Sardool Sikander, which made him a versatile and most loved personality. Adored by his fans, colleagues and other members of the music fraternity, Sardool, who breathed his last on Wednesday near Chandigarh, dedicated his entire life to singing. However, the acclaimed singer, who belonged to a family of musicians, was also a talented actor. Though he did not do much of cinema or film work, the one he did in 1991 made him popular instantly. He left behind a rich musical legacy. His sudden death has left his fans in mourning.

Very few people know that Sardool started acting after more than 10 years as a singer. He appeared in the role of police inspector in 1991 Punjabi film, Jagga Daku. While new Punjabi singers get into the groove of acting soon after starting the musical journey, he waited patiently to play the role of a cop in the film. Sardool concentrated on his singing responsibilities and it was his passion for music that made him explore various genres. Known for giving hits like Ishq Brandy char gai, Ik charkha gali de vich da leya, etc, he remained loyal to his first love- music and singing.
