Congress to move no-confidence motion against Khattar government in Haryana assembly | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The Congress in Haryana will move a “no-confidence motion” against the Manohar Lal Khattar government on Wednesday and has issued a whip asking its members to be present in the House.
“Haryana govt has lost the trust of people, MLAs and independent candidates supporting them have also stepped back. No confidence motion will be presented and voting will be done. Many faces will be unmasked,” said Bhupinder Singh Hooda, leader of the opposition in the assembly.
Hooda had earlier said that his party also plans to bring many “adjournment” and “calling attention” motions to draw the attention of the government to the multitude of problems faced by the people of the state.
Meanwhile, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally the Jannayank Janta Party (JJP) have also asked their MLAs to be present in the House tomorrow and “support the stand of the government against the no-confidence motion”.
Haryana minister and BJP’s chief whip Kanwar Pal said, “All the members of the Bharatiya Janata Legislature Party are requested to remain present in the House throughout the 10th day of March during the current budget session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha.”
“They should not leave the chamber without prior permission of the leader. Many important legislative matters are likely to come up for discussion. The members are requested to be present at the time of division/voting,” Pal, who is the Education and the Parliamentary Affairs minister, said while issuing the whip.
The 90-member Haryana assembly has currently an effective strength of 88 members. The ruling BJP has 40 members, the JJP 10 and the Congress 30. Seven are Independents, five of whom are supporting the government, while one member is of the Haryana Lokhit Party, has also extended support to the government.
