Assembly Election 2021 News Live Updates: The battle for the four poll bound states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam and Union Territory Puducherry felt like it had an official beginning with key parties announcing candidates. While Mamata Banerjee put to rest days of speculation by announcing she will contest from Nandigram, the AIADMK and BJP announced candidates in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP is likely to release its first list of candidates for West Bengal on March 7 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Brigade Rally in Kolkata.

The BJP also released its first list of 70 candidates for the Assam assembly polls and announced that allies Asom Gana Parishad and United People’s Party Liberal will contest on 26 and eight seats respectively.
