Vijender Singh’s undefeated streak in professional boxing was ended by Russia’s Artysh Lopsan on Friday via a technical knockout in the “Battle on Ship” in Goa. The bout was contested on the top of a cruise ship called “Majestic Pride Casino Ship” and the 35-year-old Indian returned to the ring for the first time since November 2019 when he fought Ghana’s Charles Adamu. The 2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender was slow to get off the blocks, taking the whole of first round to warm up. However, things gathered pace over the next two rounds with both boxers exchanging body blows. Both boxers were knocked off their feet in the first four rounds, with Vijender losing his balance twice in Round 4. The knockout punch was landed by Lopsan in Round Five as the referee deemed Vijender unfit to continue and handed the bout to Lopsan.
