Apple may upgrade 10.9-inch iPad and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with OLED screens: Report – Times of India
The 10.9-inch Apple iPad models could get OLED screens and may launch next year, claims a report by DigiTimes. Since the name of the iPad model hasn’t been mentioned, it could be the iPad Air considering the screen size. The latest iPad Air bears the same screen size of 10.9-inch which may also mean that the upcoming iPad Air may be a fresh launch with OLED displays. The report also claims that Apple will provide the 12.9-inch iPad Pro models and the upcoming MacBook Pro models with OLED screens.
The 10.9-inch iPad is expected to go into production in the last quarter of 2021 and release the next year. The iPad Pro and the MacBook Pro models are expected to launch this year.
In other news, Apple may be working on a magnetic connector for the iPhone in place of the Lightning connector. The tech giant has been granted a patent by the US Patent & Trademark Office this week for a new magnetic connector that can charge the iPhone.
The patent document suggests that the new magnetic connector will be capable for transferring power to iPhones and will also support data transfer. Apple recently brought the MagSafe charging based on Qi-technology to iPhones with iPhone 12 series. Also, the company was expected to remove the Lightning port from the future iPhones. However, a recent report surfaced online claiming that Apple will keep the existing Lightning connector for another year.
