Andaman public transport goes green with NTPC e-buses | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Andaman & Nicobar Island’s public transport system went green on Tuesday with a fleet of electric buses provided by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a subsidiary of state-run generation utility NTPC.
NVVN is executing turnkey project of supplying 40 e-buses and charging stations as part of the union territory administration’s move to reduce pollution. L-G D K Joshi flagged off the fleet of e-buses, NTPC said in a statement.
In the first phase, NVVN will provide 20 air-conditioned electric buses of nine metres each. Apart from deployment of electric buses, NTPC and Andaman administration are also collaborating for setting up public charging infrastructure in the archipelago.
NVVN has also emerged as the successful bidder for providing a turnkey solution for 90 electric buses in Bengaluru under the Centre’s Smart City project. These buses will provide last-mile connectivity to NAMMA Metro network.
The company is developing and providing complete range of zero-emission mobility solutions for various vehicle segments.
