Amidst Meghan Markle-Prince Harry interview row, ‘The Crown’ tops Critics Choice Awards 2021 with four wins including Best Drama Series – Times of India


On a night overshadowed by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, British royals drama ‘The Crown’ struck gold at the Critics Choice Awards, winning all top honours in the television categories.

Just a week after taking a clean sweep at the Golden Globe Awards, ‘The Crown’ bagged four wins including Best Drama Series.

Lead actress, Emma Corrin, who played a young Princess Diana, was named Best Actress in a drama series, beating the Queen herself, Olivia Colman and fellow top contender, Laura Linney. Josh O’Connor, who played Prince Charles in the series, won Best Actor in a drama series. Gillian Anderson also took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her stellar act in the series.

Jason Sudeikis, won for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in ‘Ted Lasso’, that is about an American football coach who gets a soccer job in London.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who won her first Golden Globes this year for ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, took home the Best Actress award for her performance in the series that was also crowned as Best Limited series.
