#7YearsOfQueen: 7 Important life lessons to learn from Kangana Ranaut’s Rani – Times of India

It’s been 7 years since we first met Rani, who went, ‘Rajouri se hoon’…apne honeymoon mein akeli aayi hoon’, when asked what she was doing in Paris alone. As she navigated the world and her life, with innocence, resilience, and a lot of ‘sense of humour’, we cheered for her from the seats of the theatre and eventually fell in love. Helmed by Vikas Bahl, the film chronicles the misadventures of Rani (Kangana Ranaut), who sets out for a solo trip to Paris and Amsterdam, instead of cancelling them after her honeymoon plans went down the drain with her fiance’s refusal to marry her. On the journey, Rani learns to fall in love with herself, gains confidence by making her own decisions, and becomes independent. Here are some life lessons to learn from Rani:

Make sure that every walk is a walk of liberation

The film was full of scenes that were symbolic of Rani’s growing confidence and sense of independence. And it finally culminated to the walk of glory as she ditches a date with her ex-fiance to spend some quality time with her newfound friends. The way she does it, without bitterness or anger, just makes her all the more endearing.

Live in the moment, because it will never return

Be it at the club or on the streets, Rani, on her trip, learnt to enjoy the moment rather than planning for the future which she had been doing for a long time.

Make sure to have friends who let you be alone, but not lonely

When her friends leave in the middle of a concert, she does look back at them, but then turns around and continues to immerse herself into the chaotic wonders of a concert. Even while bidding adieu to Vijayalakshmi, Rani makes it clear that while she will miss her friend, she was no longer afraid of being alone.

Choose the ones who keep choosing you despite your flaws

It was a moment of jubilation to see Rani returning her engagement ring to Vijay after she returns home from her solo honeymoon. Kangana’s newfound freedom and self-love allowed her to embrace who she really was and what she needed to explore in life.

It’s okay to vent once in a while

Talking is therapeutic but ranting is life-changing. We could all relate to Rani’s predicament as she, in her alcohol-induced stupor, ranted about how she felt when her fiance refused to marry her. And it helped that she had a patient, though completely amused, Vijayalakshmi listening to her.

Stand up for yourself, come what may

With her emotions all over place, Rani made the bold decision of going to her honeymoon all by herself. She used the opportunity to introspect and listen to her inner calling. There are some decisions that you make for yourself and stick to it no matter what.

Keep embracing the spark within that makes you unique

How can we forget Rani wooing Parisians with authentic Indian
gol-gappe? Her incredible cooking skills made her unique and set her apart from the other contestants.
