67th National Film Awards: Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer ‘Chhichhore’ wins Best Hindi Film – Times of India

Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Chhichhore’ won the Best Hindi Film at the 67th National Film Awards, which was announced in New Delhi on Monday. The awards are for films from the year 2019. The event was organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The film starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma in lead roles took home the top honour.

The film follows a group of college friends, who end up reuniting due to a tragic incident. After Ani (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Maya’s (Shraddha Kapoor) son attempts suicide, a college reunion takes place in a manner that was least expected.

The film was one of Rajput’s last film releases. The actor passed away on June 14, 2020, due to an apparent suicide. However, the cause of his death still remains unclear.

Fans of SSR took to social media to remember the late star and congratulate the team for the big win. “One of the finest entertaining & inspiring films,” a Twitter user said.

“’#Chhichhore’ awarded as the best Hindi feature film. Congrats to #SSRians. Soon #Sushant will get Justice also!” said another.
