3rd Test: Ben Stokes grasses catch, crowd boos | Cricket News – Times of India
Tech glitch & security glare
The floodlights gave a minor scare for a few seconds, going off for a bit before coming back again. The technical glitch, however, did not halt play nor did it distract the players. What certainly did distract the players, and particularly Virat Kohli, was a streaker making his way right to the pitch before sprinting back to the boundary rope where he was duly caught and taken away. With the country’s Union home minister watching the game, the incident became a matter of serious concern for the security officials present.
Axar joins a unique club
Mohammed Nissar in 1933, Narendra Hirwani in 1988 and Axar Patel in 2021. Patel became only the third Indian bowler, and second spinner, to claim back-to-back five-wicket hauls in two Tests. He achieved this feat with a highly impressive 6-38 off 21.4 overs, testing England throughout the spell. Like Ashwin in Chennai, the 27-year-old Patel – who hails from Anand, near Ahmedabad – was cheered by a boisterous crowd at the stadium as he ripped through the English top and middle order. His figures are also the second-best for a spinner in Day & Night Tests.
