Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati and Dia Mirza-starrer ‘Thappad’, helmed by Anubhav Sinha, clocked 1 year of its release today. The film revolved around how society tends to normalise domestic violence, dismissing it as merely a squabble. The film also managed to post a decent total of Rs 50 crore at the box office.

Besides the simple storyline and a power-packed performance by Taapsee in the film, Dia Mirza, too, left a lasting impression on the audience. ETimes reached out to the actress to know one of her fondest memories from the film and she shared, “I will never forget the feeling I had after I read the script of ‘Thappad’! It felt like a deeply personal triumph as a woman.”

When asked about the reactions she received on her performance, she revealed, “The way people connected with the characters, responded to the subtext and performances, made it truly wonderful! I deeply respect Ratnaji (Pathak Shah) and Naseer (Naseeruddin Shah) saab and their message for my performance will be the one I will never forget.”
